{Little Surprises} Circle Cutter Discovery

For a while now I have been using the Fiskar Circle Cutter...

It's fine and usually gets the job done. But I have to be honest... I kind of dread using it. It's hard to line up for size and not particularly easy to center on your artwork. The rubber pad in the center is small and sometimes pulls the ink off my artwork. And many times the blade jumps as it goes around so the circles are not completely cut. Grrr! This usually means that I have to print out another piece of artwork and cut it again.

I guess could just decide to only design things with straight edges, but circles are so much more fitting sometimes. And sometimes curvy is good, right?!

So, I have to say that the other day when I spotted another circle cutter at the craft store, I didn't think twice about picking it up to try it out. I felt ready to take measures into my own hands to alleviate my dread of the circle cut! Today I had the perfect opportunity to try it out. I had an order to fill for my Woodland Fairy Banner...

It's all circles! So I pulled out my new Martha Stewart Circle Cutter...

...and it's an absolute DREAM!! I LOVE IT!! Easy to line up. Cuts smooth as silk every time. Amazing! For the first time cutting circles was an absolute delight! I'm going to have start designing more things with circles for sure. 

One helpful hint:
- The instructions depict a particular way to cross your arms when you begin a cut. I don't know if it's a lefty thing or what, but I wasn't able to do it. So, I discovered that as long as you keep the blade depressed you can lift your anchor arm and move it so that you can proceed with your "continuous cut." (Just make sure to tape your artwork to your cutting matte before you begin your cut.)
